Smith Memorial Park was originally the fruit farm of Leon and Mildred Smith, who desired that many should enjoy this beautiful lakeside haven. When Mr. Smith was offered $250,000 for the property, he decided against profit and donated the orchard to the Town of Hector so many generations could enjoy the lake he grew up on. The park was donated in 1963.

The Town of Hector now maintains Smith Park for all of its users. We have hosted international travelers from England, France, Germany, Italy, Russia, Canada, Australia, and other countries as well as many local visitors.
