Smith Memorial Park is a public park and campground in Hector, NY. The park is open year round (as long as the roads are accessible) and the campground from May through October. Amenities include lake access, picnic areas, boat launch, kayak rentals, swim beach and walking trails.

There is no charge for parking or visitation.

There are 3 ways to get to the lake:
1) Take a short walk north from the office (to the right when facing the lake) to the gated entrance at Water Road. Walk down the moderately steep gravel road to the beach.
2) Walk down the wide grassy path (called “The Green”) in the middle of the park across from the main entrance stop sign.
3) At the boat launch. (Parking at the boat launch is prioritized launch users.)

Yes! We have a designated swim beach.
Swimming is allowed when lifeguards are on duty. Season dates vary annually, typically mid-June to mid-August.
Dogs are not allowed to hang out on the swim beach itself, but they are allowed to swim along the rest of the lakefront.

No, your non-motorized crafts do not require a boat launch fee. You may launch from anywhere along the shoreline.
Motorized watercraft must pay a $10 launch fee at the office.

If the office is closed when you arrive, take the map with your name on it from the folder outside the office and head to your site.

Yes! Dump station use is free for our campers. A code is available upon request.
There is a $25 fee for non-campers, payable when the park office is open (call ahead to ensure staff is on-site).

Yes, showers for non-campers are available for $6 credit or $5 cash. On the honor system. Pay at park office.

Our refund policy is as follows:
30+ DAYS FROM ARRIVAL: Full refund, minus a $30 non-refundable fee.
15-29 DAYS FROM ARRIVAL: 50% refund.
14 DAYS OR LESS: No refund. No exceptions.
