Policies

1. Hours of Operation

• Day Use: Dawn to dusk year-round if roads are passable.

• Quiet Hours: 10pm to 9am daily

• Campground

  • Season: May through October

  • Check-in = 1pm and Check-out = 11am

• Boat Launch: April 1 - November 30

• Swim Beach: Dates vary. Typically July and August.

2. Boat Launch

• $5 cash/$6 credit per launch. On the honor system. Pay at park office.

• Parking at the boat launch is prioritized for boat launch users.

• Use parking lots (2-3 min. walk away) as needed.

3. Campsite Occupancy

• 1 tent or RV per site

• 2 vehicles

• Unmotorized watercraft under 12’ in length

• 6 people per site (All boats and trailers to be parked in parking lot)

4. Cancellation Policy

• 30 days or more: full refund minus $30 cancellation fee.

• 15-29 days: 50% refund

• 14 days or less: No refund, no exceptions

5. Trees

• Please help protect park trees from excessive human activity: no hooks, screws, nails, chains, etc.

• No cutting of trees, dead or alive

6. Pets

• 2 pets per campsite 

• Pets must be leashed and not left unattended.

7. Children

• Under 12 years old must be accompanied by an adult at all times

• Must wear a helmet while riding bicycle.

8. Swim Beach

• Swimming allowed when lifeguards on duty.

• Footwear should be worn due to sharp zebra mussels.

• No glass on beach.

• No vehicle access.

9. Firewood & Campfires

• Firewood available at park office. $5 cash / $6 credit

• All fires must be kept within the fire ring. 

• If campfire is hot, do no leave or go to sleep. Extinguish with water. 

• NYS law prohibits firewood cut from more than a 50-mile radius of park.

10. Personal Belongings

• Must be stored on campsite only. Subject to removal if left around park.

11. Not Permitted

• Spotlights, fireworks, drones, hunting, guns, cutting of trees (alive or dead), golf carts or 4-wheel recreation vehicles.

12. Refund Policy

• All refund must be approved by Town of Hector and may take up to 35 days.

• Refunds will be made in original form of payment

• No refunds on firewood

13. Release of Liability

• Town of Hector shall not be responsible for safety or security of park user and/or their property.
